As the 1880s drew to a close, the Silver Morgan Dollar Coins experienced one of its highest mintages within a single year, second only to its one-time issue in 1921. The Philadelphia Mint took the lead in striking these coins, producing the highest number of coins in the 1880-1889 decade. Now, you have the opportunity to purchase certified 1889 Silver Morgan Dollar Coins online from Silver.com.

Throughout the 1880-1889 decade, the Philadelphia Mint minted over 152 million coins. Mintage figures consistently rose during this period, with the exception of 1881 and 1888. Among all branch mints, the 1889 issue from Philadelphia stands out with a record-breaking mintage of 21.726 million coins.

Other branch mints that also contributed to the issuance of Morgan Silver Dollars in 1889 include the San Francisco Mint, New Orleans Mint, and the Carson City Mint. The Carson City Mint, after a three-year hiatus from 1886 to 1888, minted a modest 350,000 coins.

The obverse design of the 1889 Silver Morgan Dollar showcases a captivating left-profile bust of Liberty. Crafted by George T. Morgan, this exquisite portrayal features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, complemented by a coronet crown and a laurel wreath in her hair.

On the reverse side of the 1889 Morgan Dollar Coins, you will find the magnificent heraldic eagle. Also designed by Morgan, this stunning representation depicts a majestic bald eagle facing forward, with its wings outstretched as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.

These 1889 Silver Morgan Dollar Coins are graded Mint State 63, exhibiting impaired mint luster with numerous small contact marks and scattered heavy marks. Some minor hairlines and detracting scuffs may also be present.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
