The designs on the $5 Legal Tender Note, or United States Note, changed very little from 1869 until 1928 when the large-sized format ended. Throughout this period of time, the notes bore the same obverse and reverse visuals. The 1907 Series was the last redesign of the $5 United States Note. Now, 1907 $5 Legal Tender Notes in Fine+ condition are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Note Highlights:

  • Notes ship to you inside protective currency sleeves!
  • Last series issue for the large-sized $5 Legal Tender Note!
  • Longest-running design in the series!
  • Issued a face value of $5 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse comes with an image of President Andrew Jackson and a frontier family.
  • On the reverse is an ornate element with the denomination.
  • Please keep in mind that different signature combinations are possible on the notes you get when buying multiples.

The $5 Legal Tender Note was introduced in 1862 with a depiction of the statue of Freedom and Alexander Hamilton’s bust in the lower-right field. From 1869 until 1928, the $5 Legal Tender Note was issued with a portrait of President Andrew Jackson in the lower-left field and a design at the center depicting a frontier family.

Over the course of time, the coloration of the note paper changed for the $5 Legal Tender Series. Between the change in paper color and slight adjustments to the reverse, changes were made in 1875, 1880, and 1907. These 1907 $5 Legal Tender Notes are the final issue of large-sized $5 Legal Tender Notes and were available until 1928.

The obverse of the 1907 $5 Legal Tender Note comes with an image of President Andrew Jackson in the lower left. At the center of the design element is a depiction of a frontier family on the move toward the American West. The husband holds an axe while his wife and small child are depicted nearby. The 1907 Series notes feature a new US Treasury seal with a rosette shape.

On the reverse side of 1907 $5 Legal Tender Notes is an ornate design element with information on the status of the notes. You will also find several notations of the face value of the notes, with Roman numerals in the lower corners and Arabic numerals in the upper corners.

These 1907 $5 Legal Tender Notes are available in Fine+ condition. Notes in this condition have considerable signs of circulation with rounded corners and margin splits. The notes come with a protective currency sleeve for shipping.
