In 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt authorized the redesign of America’s coinage. The effort started with the gold coins of the US Eagle Series. All four denominations in the series would be redesigned, from the Quarter Eagle and Half Eagle to the Eagle and Double Eagle.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens was commissioned by President Roosevelt to create new images of Liberty for the series. He would end up creating the new Liberty effigies for the US Eagle and US Double Eagle. His Gold Double Eagle design is widely regarded as the most beautiful in American history.

The obverse of the 1908 Pre-33 Gold Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle features a front-facing effigy of Liberty. In this design, Liberty walks toward the viewer with a torch held up in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Sun rays emerge on the horizon with the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet.

On the reverse of 1908 Gold $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles, you will find a gliding American bald eagle. The eagle glides effortlessly over the sun along the bottom of the design field with its elegant wings swept back.

These 1908 Pre-33 Gold $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles are available in Mint State 67 condition with a special Wells Fargo Label in the slab. These coins showcase original mint luster, three to four small contact marks, and one or two hairlines.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
