1988 marked the seventh year of the Chinese Gold Panda bullion program, and like the previous issues, it featured a fresh design and limited mintage. Since then, the People’s Republic of China has issued a new Chinese Gold Panda every year, and with the exception of 2002, they have all featured their own unique reverse designs. Right now, 1988 1 oz Gold Chinese Panda Coins are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

  • Seventh year of release in the Chinese Panda Series!
  • Mintage limited to only 289,055 gold coins!
  • Contains One Troy ounce of .999 fine gold.
  • Bears a face value of 100 Yuan backed by the Chinese government.
  • The obverse face depicts The Hall of Prayer of Abundant Harvests.
  • On the reverse side there is a panda with bamboo.

All 1988 Gold Chinese Panda Coins in this online listing will arrive to you inside individual protective flips. Struck in China and issued by the People’s Republic of China, these coins represent the seventh overall design in the Gold Panda bullion program. Each of these coins consists of genuine .999 fine gold and is also legal tender under the monetary authority of China.

The Hall of Prayer of Abundant Harvests appears on the obverse of 1988 1 oz Chinese Panda Coins. This design will be instantly familiar to Chinese Panda collectors, as it has appeared on the front of every release since the program began in 1982. Across the upper edge of the coin there is a series of Chinese inscriptions, while on the lower portion we see the year of release.

A fully grown panda sits on the reverse of 1988 1 oz Gold Panda Coins. The panda is positioned at an angle towards the right and holds bamboo branch in its left paw. This design is unique to the 1988 release, as every issue in the program has contained its own design, with the exception of 2002. There are inscriptions on the reverse as well that read 1 oz Au .999, 100 Yuan.

The giant panda is known for its cuddly appearance and beautiful black and white markings. Because the markings are fairly uniform across all pandas, it can be very difficult to tell multiple members of the species apart. It also has a unique bamboo diet, which comprises the majority of its overall food intake. However, the panda is classified as a carnivore and will occasionally feed on fish and smaller animals.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
