The only positive stretch of demand for the Silver American Eagle during its first 15 years of availability came between 1989 and 1991 when mintage figures posted modest gains in each year compared to the previous release. After the 1991 release, demand for the coins would remain tempered throughout most of the 1990s. Right now, 1990 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coins are available to purchase online at Silver.com with a PCGS certification.

Each individual 1990 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coin in this product listing comes to you with a near-perfect grade. Coins in Mint State 69 condition exhibit full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and found only outside of the primary focal points of the coin.
The 1990 release of Silver American Eagles experienced a modest increase in demand from the 1989 issue. The total mintage of 5,840,110 coins marked a gain of nearly 640,000 coins from the year before and a boost of more than 800,000 coins since the 1988 release of the coins. The early 1990s saw silver prices dropping on average each year, with the 1990 average silver price per ounce falling to $4.83.
On the obverse of 1990 Silver American Eagles is the image of Walking Liberty. This portrait of Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman as part of a US Mint artistic contest to find new designs for circulating gold and silver coins. Walking Liberty moves from right to left across the coin as she marches toward the setting sun on the horizon.
The reverse side of 1990 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. One of the nation’s oldest coin designs, the heraldic eagle has been reimagined countless times on US coinage and this 1986 version comes from John Mercanti.
