The 1992 mintage year for the Silver American Eagle coin was a unique one. After striking both the bullion and proof coins at the San Francisco Mint from 1986 to 1992, this would be the last year the proof specimens were produced on the West Coast.
Starting in 1993, the Proof Silver American Eagle would be produced at the Philadelphia Mint instead. The coins would remain there through 2000, after which they again shifted to a new mint, this time landing at the West Point Mint.
Each of the 1992-S Proof Silver American Eagle coins in this Silver.com product listing earned a grade of PR70 from the PCGS. Coins in this condition feature full, original luster from the mint and lack all possible detracting flaws.
The DCAM designation of these products helps identify the unique finish they possess. The design set features a strong, frosted matte finish. This overlays a deeply-mirrored, clear background field.
On the obverse, as always, is the Walking Liberty image from Adolph A. Weinman, which was created in 1916 for use on the nation’s half-dollar coin. The reverse features the heraldic eagle of the United States from John Mercanti, former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. Both images have appeared on the Silver American Eagle every year.
