If there is one coin to claim the title of single most popular product in the world today, it is the Silver American Eagle. Produced in record numbers in recent years, with 44 million sold in 2014 alone, the official silver bullion coin of the United States is more popular than ever. Right now, the 1994 Silver American Eagle coin is available on Silver.com in near-perfect condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • 8th annual striking of the Silver American Eagle.
  • Ships in a protective plastic slab.
  • Consists of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Face value of $1 (USD) is fully supported by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the NGC.

Silver American Eagle coins were introduced in 1986 as the official silver bullion coin of the nation. What started out as an effort to raise money for the federal government through the release of silver from the Defense National Stockpile has turned into one of the most popular coin programs in the world over the last three decades.

Each Silver American Eagle coin has iconic images from the history of American currency on its obverse face. Adolph A. Weinman created the image of Walking Liberty in 1916 for use on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, which remained in circulation through 1947.

You’ll find the image of Walking Liberty, with her hands outstretched and the American flag draped over her shoulders, on the obverse face of all Silver American Eagle coins. The depiction of Liberty in this manner is meant to symbolize the nation’s drive toward a brighter future as she walks toward the setting sun.

The reverse bears the image of the heraldic eagle, and was created by US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti in 1986. It includes images such as the national shield and 13 arrows above the eagles head, representing the original colonies.

The 1994 Silver American Eagle coins in this product listing have Mint State 69 grades from the NGC. Considered near-perfect specimens, each coin has its full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws.
