For the second consecutive year, the Gold Eagle coin series saw diminished mintage figures amid lower demand for the popular gold bullion coins. While the 1995 1 oz Gold American Eagle coin sank by 21,000 coins in production, and the ½ oz coin shrunk, the ¼ oz and 1/10 oz coins actually posted solid gains year over year. The mintage figure for the 1995 1 oz Gold Eagles is the second lowest in program history, with only the 1996 issue dipping further.
In fact, for the first time in Gold American Eagle bullion coining history, the 1/10 oz bullion coin outsold the 1 oz coin, with 223,025 in sales compared to 200,636 for the 1 oz coins. Gold prices were higher throughout most of 1995 than in 1994, sticking between a range of $375 per ounce and $395 throughout most of the year. However, gold finished with an average of $383 per ounce.
On the obverse of all Gold American Eagle coins is the image of Liberty. Created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the design depicted Liberty as she walked confidently forward from the nation’s capital of Washington DC.
The reverse of the 1995 1 oz Gold American Eagle Coin includes a depiction of the bald eagle. Miley Busiek’s depiction of the eagle family includes the image of a male flying over the nest while a female eagle watches over the young hatchlings in the nest.
Each of the 1995 1 oz Gold American Eagle Coins in this listing are in BU condition. Coins in BU condition have no signs of wear and tear, however you might notice minor flaws ranging from breaks in the luster and spotted surfaces to contact marks from striking the blanks during production at the mint.
