The coins in this listing will ship directly to your door in clear plastic slabs from the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). These coins were all given a perfect PR70 grade. Coins with this grade will be fully struck and free of visual marks, but there may still be “as minted” defects that are minor.

The PCGS gave each coin in this listing a special DCAM designation. Coins with this designation have deeply-mirrored backgrounds with heavily frosted design fields, creating a significant contrast on the coins.

To create the high contrast look, these coins are struck using polished dies at super-high pressure. The result is a coin with sharper rims and designs with a super smooth background.

Lady Liberty can be seen walking off the face of the coin with the sun at her back on the face of Gold American Eagle Coins. She can be seen holding an olive branch in one hand and a flaming torch in the other. This image was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Engravings on this face of the coin include “LIBERTY” and “2004.”

Miley Busiek’s depiction of an American bald eagle family can be seen on the reverse of these coins. The image was created in 1986 just for use on these coins. The image shows a male bald eagle returning to a nest where his mate and hatchling rest. He holds an olive branch in his talons. The engravings on this side of the coin include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

The Gold American Eagle Coin program was launched in 1988. The United States Mint produces these coins annually with the same design. American Eagle Coins are minted in four precious metals: gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Each metal type features a different design, but the theme remains the same. These specific Gold American Eagles were minted at the West Point Mint; this is denoted with a small W mint mark on the obverse.
