One of the world’s most popular gold bullion coin collections is the Gold Chinese Panda. Introduced in 1982, the series has been primarily offered 1 oz and fractional-ounce coins, through 2015 at least. In 2016, the BU Series transitioned to the use of Gram weights instead. When proofs are issued, those are typically available with weights not commonly offered in the BU Series. Today, 2005 5 oz Proof Gold Chinese Pandas are available to you online at Silver.com.

Since 1982, the Gold Panda Series has enjoyed one of the largest profiles of any bullion coin program in the world. The collection started with four weights in 1982 and gained a fifth in 1983. In 2016, the series swapped out the use of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz gold coins for 30 Gram, 15 Gram, 8 Gram, 3 Gram, and 1 Gram coins. Over the course of the last several decades, Proof Gold Pandas have been issued as well, usually with distinctive weights not available in the BU Series.
All of these 2005 5 oz Proof Gold Chinese Pandas are available with capsules and are sealed inside plastic. Just 1,000 of these gold coins were issued in 2005, and each one features frosted design elements over mirrored fields.
On the obverse of 2005 Proof Gold Chinese Pandas, you will find the exterior view of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This building is the central structure within the Temple of Heaven Complex, a Taoist religious site that was built between 1406 and 1420.
The reverse side of the 2005 5 oz Proof Gold Pandas comes with a depiction of two Giant Pandas. This year’s exclusive design comes with an adult sitting down eating bamboo as its young cub looks for a bite as well.
