Introduced in 1986, the Silver American Eagle is currently available to investors and collectors in three versions. When the series debuted in 1986, only the Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions of the coin were available each year. The Burnished coin debuted in 2006. Certified versions of each of the coins are popular with investors and collectors. Today, 2005-W 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles in near-perfect condition are available to you online at Silver.com.

The Proof Silver Eagles from the US Mint have experienced major ebbs and flows in demand over the years. Coming out of the 1990s, the Proof Silver Eagles began to gain momentum amid rising demand for silver and increasing silver prices in the 2000s. The mintage of 816,663 coins in 2005 was the highest figure since 1987 when 904,732 coins were struck.

All of the 2005-W 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles in this product listing come with a near-perfect certification. A coin with a PR69 grade has full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Examples of those detracting flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin. The included DCAM label means the coins have impressive contrast between the design strike and the field of the coin. The design has a strong, frosted visual while the background field is deeply-mirrored and clear.

On the obverse of 2005-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles is Walking Liberty, the iconic 1916 design created by Adolph A. Weinman. This image shows Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon.

The reverse side of 2005-W Proof Silver American Eagles features the modern version of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This visual depicts the eagle in front-facing relief as it supports the US national shield. The bird clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
