As the Gold Eagle Series at the United States Mint marked its 20th anniversary in 2006, the dominance of the 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle continued. Debuting in 1988, the 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle immediately jumped to the head of the line as the best-selling weight among the four options in the Proof Gold Eagle each year. Today, 2006-W 1/10 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com in perfect condition.

The 2006 release of Proof Gold Eagles marked the 20th anniversary of the series, but did not bring a significant uptick in demand across the collectible series. While the 1 oz coin actually saw an increase in mintage of nearly 12,000 coins from the previous year, the 1/2 oz coin added just 11 coins over the previous year’s mintage, the 1/4 oz coin fell by just over 1,000 coins, and the 1/10 oz coin fell by nearly 2,000 coins.

All of the 2006-W 1/10 oz Proof Gold American Eagles in this listing earned perfect certifications from the PCGS. Coins in PR70 condition have full, original mint luster and bear no detracting flaws of any kind. The included DCAM label means these coins are deep-cameo proofs with strong, frosted designs that contrast against the deeply-mirrored, clear background fields.

On the obverse of 2006-W Proof Gold American Eagles is a portrait of Liberty in full-length relief. This front-facing effigy shows Liberty walking toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand, an olive branch in her left, sun rays at her back, and a ring of 50 stars around the design element.

The reverse side of the 2006-W 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle features Miley Busiek’s exclusive image of a family of bald eagles. This design has only ever appeared on the Gold American Eagle bullion coins and shows a male eagle in flight above the nest with a female eagle and hatchlings within the nest.
