One of the greatest periods of demand in the history of the Gold American Eagle started in 2009. As the Great Recession sunk the global economy deeper, gold bullion coins saw growing demand in the late 2000s and throughout the 2010s. Compared to other stretches in the history of the Gold Eagle Series, the late 2000s and 2010s saw sustained, high levels of interest. Now, 2009 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside protective flips!
  • 24th date in the Gold American Eagle Series!
  • Final mintage of 110,000 coins only!
  • Consists of One-Quarter Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of $10 (USD) by the United States.
  • Lady Liberty on the obverse.
  • Family of bald eagles on the reverse.

As the Y2K crisis abated in the late 1990s and early 2000s, demand for gold bullion remained relatively flat in the remaining years of the first decade of the 21st century. For example, just two years earlier in 2007, the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle experienced its lowest mintage in the program’s history. The Great Recession and an extended period of economic uncertainty in the 2010s resulted in growing demand for the coins, as well as sustained levels of interest year-over-year.

Lady Liberty is on the obverse of 2009 Gold American Eagles. This design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens was created in 1907 and features Liberty’s full-length figure walking toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The field also includes the U.S. Capitol Building in the background with sun rays on the horizon and a ring of 50 stars around the design element.

A family of American bald eagles is featured in the reverse design of 2009 1/4 oz Gold Eagles. This design comes from Miley Busiek and was created in 1986 exclusively for the Gold Eagle Series. This design shows a male eagle as it flies over a family nest holding a female eagle and hatchlings.

These 2009 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles are available here at Silver.com with protective flips for delivery. The mintage of 110,000 coins in the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle weight in 2009 marked a significant increase from just a few years earlier. In 2007, the 1/4 oz gold coin sold just 34,004 coins, marking an early three-fold increase by 2009.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
