Known for its brilliant designs and the purity of its Gold, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced its first Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coins in 1979. The Gold Maple Leaf is the official gold bullion coin of Canada and is deemed one of the oldest gold coins on the gold bullion market, as well as one of the best-selling gold coins available today. Initially available only in the 1 oz denomination, fractional denominations were added in subsequent years. The 2009 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin is available for purchase online at Silver.com right now!

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective plastic flip!
  • 31st issue of the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin.
  • Consists of 1 Troy ounce of .9999 pure gold.
  • Bears a face value of $50 (CAD) backed by the Government of Canada.
  • Profile of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse.
  • The Maple Leaf is featured on the reverse.

The 2009 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf obverse features the Susanna Blunt created right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II. This particular version of Her Majesty was created in 2003 by a Canadian artist. Since 1952, when Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne of the United Kingdom, various versions of Her Majesty have been highlighted on the obverse of all Canadian coinage.

The 2009 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf reverse features the Walter Ott created Maple Leaf design. The Maple Leaf is a symbol of pride and nationalism for Canadians. This particular Maple Leaf design was created in 1979 for the Royal Canadian Mint, and has remained basically unchanged, as the design for all versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf coins.

The Gold Canadian Maple Leaf coin was first minted in 1979 by the Royal Canadian Mint and has been issued annually ever since. As a result of the consistency of its design and mintage, the Gold Maple Leafs are considered to be the standard by which other 24-karat gold bullion coins are judged. The Gold Maple Leafs are considered legal tender. They were initially minted only in the 1 oz denomination, with a face value of $50 Canadian Dollars. In 1982, and various subsequent years, fractional denominations were minted as well. The 2009 Gold Maple Leaf is available in the following additional denominations – 1/20 oz ($1), 1/10 oz ($5), 1/4 oz ($10), and 1/2 oz ($20).

Founded in Ottawa in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint is the official sovereign mint of Canada. All of Canada’s circulation coins are produced here as well as the manufacturing of circulation coins of other nations. The RCM is considered to be a Crown Corporation, meaning it is a government organization with a mix of commercial and public-policy responsibilities.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
