  • On the obverse of this coin is the image of Paul Kruger.
  • On the reverse of this coin is the picture of an antelope.

The 2009 1 oz Gold South African Krugerrand Coin was originally made and distributed by the South African Mint. This coin was struck in 1 oz of fine gold and has detailed designs on its obverse and reverse sides. This coin continues to hold significant historical and cultural value for South African society. It does not have a face value, but that’s because its legal denomination fluctuates with the price of gold rather than remaining fixed.

The South African Mint has been releasing the Krugerrand coin collection since 1967. This same Mint is known for being the world’s most popular location for producing gold. The Krugerrand collection was originally released to market and show off South African gold, and the term “Krugerrand” actually originates from the combination of the South African currency—the “rand”—and the name of Paul Kruger.

The obverse design of the 2009 Gold Krugerrand Coin shows the portrait of Paul Kruger. As the first and only South African president, Kruger is known for founding the South African Mint in 1892. At that time, the establishment of the mint was to combat coin shortages, as well as to create a way for South Africa to release its own currency.

The reverse of the 2009 1 oz Gold Krugerrand Coin shows the image of a Springbok antelope, the national South African animal. The coin’s purity, weight, and release year are also featured on the reverse, as well as the “KRUGERRAND” inscription shown above the antelope.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
