The Perth Mint issues the 1 Kilo, 10 oz, 5 oz, 2 oz, and 1/2 oz silver coins in its Lunar Series II collection with unlimited mintage figures. However, for these coins, it does have a cutoff point. The coins are produced to meet demand, but only through the end of the calendar year matching the date mark of the design.
For the 2012 1 Kilo Silver Australian Lunar Dragon Coin, this meant production continued until the end of the 2012 calendar year. This resulted in a total declared mintage for the Year of the Dragon design on the 1 Kilo coin of 55,886 coins. This holds the record as the highest mintage for any of the 12 design in the 1 Kilo weight. The next closest is the 2019 Year of the Pig 1 Kilo coin.
On the reverse of 2012 1 Kilo Silver Australian Lunar Dragon Coins is the image of a long dragon as it slithers around the design field. The dragon is depicted with its scale-covered body as it chases down the flaming pearl. Known as the Pearl of Wisdom, this artistic depiction points to the dragon’s constant pursuit of knowledge.
The obverse of the 2012 Silver Australian Lunar Dragon Coin comes with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is the fifth used on Australian coinage and was created by Ian Rank-Broadley for the Royal Mint of England in 1998.
These 2012 1 Kilo Silver Australian Lunar Dragon Coins are available to you for purchase inside of individual protective acrylic capsules. The coins are all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
