The 21st century brought renewed demand for a number of the world’s leading gold bullion coin programs. After hitting many of its record low mintages in the early 2000s, the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf rebounded starting with the Great Recession driving demand for gold and prices for gold upward. Now, 2012 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leafs are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside individual plastic flips!
  • 34th year of availability for the 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leaf!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold.
  • Issued a face value of $50 (CAD) by Canada.
  • The obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is an image of the sugar maple leaf.

The Royal Canadian Mint’s Canadian Maple Leaf Series debuted in 1979 and has grown over the course of more than four decades in production. When the series started, there was only a 1 oz gold option. In November 1982, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins were added to the gold series. In 1986, a 1/2 oz gold coin was introduced into the series.

Over the next two decades, the series would expand even further. The 1988 date mark brought the debut of both the Silver Maple Leaf and the Platinum Maple Leaf, with a Palladium Maple Leaf later added to the series. Further additions to the Gold Maple Leaf Series included the 1/20 oz gold coin in 1993 and the 1 Gram gold coin in 2014.

The obverse of 2012 1 oz Gold Maple Leafs comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the latest effigy of Her Majesty to grace Canadian coins and is a right-profile relief depicting Elizabeth II at the age of 79. In this design, she is shown without a crown, a first on Canadian coins during her reign.

On the reverse side of the 2012 Gold Canadian Maple Leaf, you will find a depiction of the sugar maple leaf. The maple leaf is the national emblem of Canada and appears on the national flag, as well as on the emblems of various government entities and private corporations.

These 2012 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leafs are available to purchase with individual plastic flips. Mintage figures were on the rise in the early 2010s, with several date marks in this period boasting mintage figures in excess of 1 million coins.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
