Today however, you have the chance to purchase a 2012 1 oz Silver Canadian Cougar Coin on Silver.com, complete with NGC certification.

The cougar is one of the most fearsome predators in North America. Prowling the woods and mountains regions of the American and Canadian West, the cougar is known for its silent predation and lighting fast strikes. It was a natural choice to include on the design for a coin series celebrating the wild creatures of Canada.
All 2012 1 oz Silver Canadian Cougar Coins available today from Silver.com earned a Mint State 68 grade from the NGC. This indicates a coin with an attractive strike and its full, original mint luster. However, you may notice between three and four minor detracting flaws. These detractions are limited to minuscule contact marks, and found outside the primary visual regions of the coin.
On the obverse you’ll notice the familiar image of Queen Elizabeth II. England’s longest reigning monarch was captured in right-profile relief in 2003 by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt, and is featured on this side along with engravings of her name, the year of issue, and face value of the coin.
The reverse bears the primary image for the coin, that of a cougar in the wilderness. Designed by William Woodruff, a Royal Canadian Mint Assistant Engraver, this was the third of four designs in the series he created.
