The 2013 5 oz Fort McHenry ATB Silver Coin is one of the most stunning designs of the series, showcasing Maryland’s Fort McHenry and the battle that took place there during the War of 1812. The battle, of course, gave rise to the “Star Spangled Banner,” the county’s national anthem that was written by Francis Scott Key. Customers will note that even “rockets” are featured in the coin’s design. Each coin bears the phrase “E Pluribus Unum,” the name of the state, and the year it was made. The obverse side of the coin has a portrait of George Washington as he appears on the quarter. Every coin is struck in five troy ounces of .999 pure silver, making these coins not only a quality collectible, but a fine investment in precious metals as well.
