The Silver Canadian Five Blessings coin series was introduced in gold and silver in 2014, consisting of a 1 oz. silver variant and two weights in gold: 1 oz and 1/10 oz. The coins are symbolic of the importance of blessings in Chinese culture.
Chinese culture uses a letters, sounds, and images to convey robust messages with meanings in society that are amplified by those non-verbal cues. In the case of these coins, five animals that traditionally connote blessings of happiness, career success, long life, and joy are featured in the design.
Each of the 2014 1 oz Silver Canadian Five Blessings coins in this Silver.com listing has a grade of Brilliant Uncirculated. Coins in BU condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, but you will notice breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, and/or contact marks from the striking process.
On the reverse side of the coin is the image of the five animals that represent the blessings of Chinese culture; the bat, deer, crane, and two magpies. On the right hand side of the reverse is the Chinese symbol for good fortune.
The obverse bears the right-profile image of Queen Elizabeth II commonly used on Canadian currency since 2003. Created by Susanna Blunt, it is the latest effigy of Her Majesty to grace Canadian coins.
Royal Canadian Mint coins are recognized for visual beauty and purity around the world. Founded in 1908, today the Royal Canadian Mint consists of facilities in Ottawa and Winnipeg.
