The 2015 1/2 oz Year of the Sheep silver coin features the head of a Bighorn sheep and a small part of its upper body. The details in the design, done by Simon Ng, are remarkable and finely applied. In addition to the head and body of the sheep, you will also see the coin features the Chinese character for sheep and in the background, several bamboo plants can be seen. On the left side of the coin, the phrase “Year of the Sheep” is seen, as well as the French translation of that phrase, “Annee du Mouton.” Around the edge of the rest of the coin, you will see the word “CANADA” and the phrase “10 DOLLARS 2015.”
The opposite side of the coin is the profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was done by Susanna Blunt. As with the front of the coin, the details are remarkable and stand out when looking at the coin. To the left of the queen’s profile, the inscription “QUEEN ELIZABETH II” is inscribed. To the right, “D. G. Regina” is seen which translates to “By the Grace of God, Queen.”
