Equally as patriotic is John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle design, which appears on the coin’s reverse side. This iconic emblem shows a spread winged eagle as it upholds a large shield. In its talons, it balances a set of arrows with an olive branch. Serving as a frame to this image is a ring of text which includes the coin’s weight, purity, denomination and country.
