This 2015 release of the Australian Silver Eagle is the first time that a chief engraver from the United States Mint collaborated with a mint in another part of the world to design a coin. This engraver, John Mercanti, worked directly with the Perth Mint to produce this bullion product and create the intricate detailing that’s included on its surface.
On the obverse of the 2015 1 oz Silver Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Coin is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was designed by artist Ian Rank-Broadley. This image of the late Queen has stood the test of time; it’s been included on bullion releases all across the world, with many different mints using the image of the Queen as their featured obverse design. The obverse also shows the coin’s value and country of origin, as well as an inscription that reads “ELIZABETH II”.
On the reverse of the 2015 1 oz Silver Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Coin is a soaring eagle that’s seen flying majestically through the sky with wings outstretched. The viewer will especially enjoy the incredible detailing included on this eagle, especially throughout its wings and body. The coin’s weight, purity, and release year are also on the reverse, along with the inscription “AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE”.
