Royal Canadian Mint Silver Canadian Maple Leaf coins were recently introduced with updated security features to combat counterfeiting. Chief among these features are the radial lines and maple leaf privy mark featured on all new coins. The radial lines are micro-laser engraved on both the obverse and reverse face. The maple leaf privy mark on the reverse features a year of issue mark within it that is only visible under intense magnification.
Each 2015 1 oz Silver Canadian Maple Leaf in this Silver.com listing has a Mint State 68 grade from the NGC. These specimens still have an attractive strike, with full, original mint luster still visible. However, there are three or four minor detracting flaws on the surface. These are found outside the primary focal areas and limited in nature to miniscule contact marks.
On the reverse face of the coin is the traditional sugar maple leaf design. It is included along with engravings of the coin’s nation of issue, purity, metal content, and weight. The additional maple leaf privy mark is situated in the lower right of the design field.
The obverse bears the familiar right-profile portrait of England’s Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s depiction is featured along with engravings of her name, the year of issue, and the face value of the coin.
