Scottsdale Mint has helped numerous nations enter the precious metals marketplace with silver bullion coins in recent years. The most popular program to date is that of Congo, which features the Silverback Gorilla. The all-new Silver Fiji Iguana coin series was introduced in 2015.
On the 2015 1 oz Silver Fiji Iguana you’ll find a design representative of the nation and one of its well-known wild residents. The banded iguana is endemic to the southeastern Fijian islands and is an arboreal species of lizard. Today it is considered endangered through a loss of habitable lands (deforestation) and the introduction of predators to the islands.
The obverse of the 2016 1 oz Silver Fiji Iguana features the image of an iguana, along with engravings that read “Fiji Iguana” across the top, “2016 1 Troy Oz” in the lower left, and “.999 Fine Silver” in the lower right.
On the reverse is the traditional crest of Fiji, which features a pair of warriors standing on either side of a shield. The coat of arms includes images representative of the cultural history of Fijians, particularly their seafaring endeavors. Engravings read “Fiji 2015” above the design and the face value of “One Dollar” below.
Each individual 2015 1 oz Silver Fiji Iguana Coin arrives in a Certi-Lock package with easy-to-use verification technology. Using the Certi-Lock app on a smartphone, you can scan the encrypted barcode on your individual coin to verify its authenticity. The package includes an assay card and tamper-evident holographic material.
Scottsdale Mint is a private minting facility located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The mint prides itself on sustainable production processes, which include the use of recycled silver from the photographic and manufacturing industries.

Never noticed this coin before and just decided to pick one up. It looks great, the detail is very good. The lower mintage was a plus for me as well.
