Burnished Silver American Eagles were released as part of the 20th-anniversary celebration of the American Eagle Series, but rather than being a one-time issue, the coins were intended for continued annual release as a third option for buyers in this series. The Burnished Silver Eagles suffered a two-year hiatus in 2009 and 2010 as the US Mint struggled to cope with the demand for silver bullion amidst soaring prices and a shortage of available silver bullion blanks for coining.
All 2015-W 1 oz Burnished Silver American Eagles are available to you in this listing with a perfect certification. A Mint State 70 coin has full, original mint luster and presents with no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements and background fields of the coin.
Walking Liberty is featured on the obverse side of the 2015-W 1 oz Burnished Silver American Eagle. This depiction of Liberty shows her full figure as she walks in left-profile relief toward the sun on the horizon as it crests a mountain. Liberty extends her right hand toward the sun, wears the American flag over her shoulders, and carries the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand.
The heraldic eagle of the United States is depicted on the reverse face of 2015 Burnished Silver American Eagles. Designed for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti, the heraldic eagle clutches the arrows of war in one talon, the olive branch of peace in the other, and has the national heraldic shield on its chest. Above its head, there is a triangular cluster of 13 stars.
All 2015-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagles have a “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint to the lower-left field of the heraldic eagle on the reverse.
