The newest coin in the Silver American Eagle program is the burnished coin. Released for the first time in 2006, the burnished coin is meant to attract collectors looking for coins with great display and exhibition qualities. The 2015-W Burnished Silver American Eagle is now available from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Consists of 1 ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Bears a “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint.
  • Graded SP70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Struck using special coining process that results in unique finish.
  • Carries a $1 (USD) face value backed by the federal government.
  • Part of the First Strike series.
  • Ships in sealed plastic slab provided by PCGS.
  • Eligible for inclusion in Precious Metals IRA accounts.
  • Limited mintage.

After 20 years of production with only two versions, the Silver American Eagle coin was added to the lineup in 2006. Produced only at the West Point Mint in New York, the burnished coin is struck using a process similar to the production of proof coins.

Burnished Silver American Eagle coins are produced using burnished blanks, rather than striking clean blanks with a burnished die. The burnished blanks are hand loaded into the coining press, and each one is struck multiple times to create a stunning finish.

The 2015-W Burnished Silver American Eagles in this product listing have a perfect grade of SP70 from the PCGS. One of the two strictest coin grading services, the PCGS only issues a perfect grade to coins with full, original luster and no contact marks or detracting flaws of any kind.

On the reverse side of every Burnished Silver American Eagle is the image of John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle, complete with 13 stars representing the original American Colonies. The obverse bears the image of Walking Liberty, first created by Adolph A. Weinman for use on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar (1916-1947).

The United States Mint strikes an extremely limited number of Burnished Silver American Eagle coins each year. These coins do not last long when in stock, so there is little time to waste. We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
