Tigers are the largest cats on planet Earth, and their habitats consist largely of lush, dense jungles on two different continents. The Siberian Tiger is perhaps the most well-known subspecies in the world, and is found throughout the Asian continent. The Sumatran Tiger is one of the most endangered subspecies within the tiger family, and largely inhabits the Indian subcontinent.
These brand-new proof coins from the Perth Mint ship to you in exciting Tiger-themed Australian Cub presentation boxes. Inside you’ll find your individual ½ oz Tiger Cub Proof Coin inside a black display case, with a Certificate of Authenticity included as well.
On the reverse is the image of a pair of tiger cubs playing in a field. The colorized portions of the image include the tigers and the field in the background, while distant trees and a structure in the far background remain in pure silver finish. The lone engraving on this face is the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark.
The obverse face of the coin features the fourth-generation depiction of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this depiction is surrounded by engravings that include the coin’s weight, purity, metal content, year of issue, nation of issue, face value, and Her Majesty’s name.
Australia’s Perth Mint was founded in 1898 by the British Royal Mint, and remained in British control until it was passed to the Western Australia state government in 1970. All Perth Mint coins hold legal tender status in Australian under the Currency Act of 1965.
