When the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf was first produced in 1979, it was only offered in one size. Nowadays, the coin series has risen to become one of the world’s most popular simply due to the fact that it offers investors and collectors the type of versatility not found with other gold coin series. The 2016 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf is a perfect example of this versatility as it allows investors and collectors to buy a coin in a size that is much more affordable than gold coins weighing 1 oz or more.
More and more often investors are buying gold in fractionals to meet their needs because of their divisibility. Gold spot price changes frequently, but can always be divided or multiplied to get your fractional piece’s spot value.

Keeping with tradition, the 2016 Gold Maple Leaf depicts Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side. The Queen is rightward facing and adorned with a beautiful pearl necklace. Her image is raised from the coin’s face so that she appears to be more lifelike. Beneath the image of the Queen is the CAD$1 face value that the 1/20 oz coin carries. The edges of the coin are reeded, which is a nice change from the smooth-edged coins that are commonly found nowadays.
On the reverse side you will find the raised image of Canada’s national symbol — the maple leaf. The leaf on the coin is made to resemble the maple leaf found on Canada’s flag, though the coin’s image is much more detailed than what you will find on their flag. The detail is so intense that you will even be able to make out the individual stems and veins that give the leaf life. Surrounding the central image are weight and purity indications.
We sell Gold Maple Leaf coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning that they are never touched by human hands before making it to your door. The purity of this coin is a solid .9999, making it purer than just about any other gold coin on the market today. Most other gold coins from around the world have a purity that is .999 or less.
