The Perth Mint releases a wide range of coins each year. For Australia alone, Perth Mint issues annual gold and silver coins for sale that target both investors and collectors. Among its more popular collections are the Silver Kookaburra and the Lunar Series collections. The two come together each year when Perth Mint issues Silver Kookaburras with Lunar privy marks. Now, 2016 1 oz Silver Australian Kookaburra Monkey Privy Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

  • 26th year of availability in the Silver Australian Kookaburra Series!
  • Beautiful Year of Monkey Privy release!
  • Mintage limited to 50,000 coins only!

  • The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is a kookaburra perched on a wooden fence post.

The Silver Kookaburra Series started at Perth Mint in 1990, making it one of the oldest, longest-running collections at the mint. Available each year since 1990 with a new reverse design of the kookaburra, the only series that is older than this is the Gold Nugget/Gold Kangaroo series that started under the former name in 1986 and continued under the latter name from 1990.

The other collection represented in this unique privy-mark release is the Lunar Series. Perth Mint has the world’s most popular and longest-running lunar-themed coins. The first Lunar Series launched in 1996 and ran through 2007. From 2008 to 2019, the mint issued a second series of lunar-themed coins. The most recent is available as of 2020.

For the obverse design of 2016 1 oz Silver Australian Kookaburra Monkey Privy Coins, Perth Mint features the right-profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this is the fourth-generation portrait from the Royal Mint and depicts the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.

On the reverse side of 2016 Silver Kookaburra Monkey Privy Coins is an image of a kookaburra. The largest member of the kingfisher species, the kookaburra is shown here as it sits perched on a wooden fence post that is wrapped in barbed wire. Within the design field, you will notice a circular privy mark with a small monkey inside.

These 2016 1 oz Silver Australian Kookaburra Monkey Privy Coins come to you with protective plastic capsules. While the overall mintage of Silver Kookaburras in 2016 was 500,000 silver coins, these unique Year of the Monkey Privy coins come with a limited mintage of 50,000 coins.
