The obverse of 2016 Burnished Silver ATB Coins features the portrait of George Washington. This left-profile portrait of President Washington was created in 1932 by John Flanagan using a 1786 bust of the president as inspiration. Flanagan’s work was put on the US circulation quarter in 1932 to honor President Washington’s 200th birthday. It remains there today as the longest-running US coin design in the country’s history.
