Jody Clark is the designer responsible for all 10 planned designs in the Queen’s Beast Series. This collection of silver and gold bullion coins features each of the 10 heraldic beasts of the Royal Arms present during the official coronation ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II. As a young Elizabeth II strode into Westminster Abbey in early 1953, these beasts watched over the start of her reign.
Clark is a Royal Mint Engraver who not only created these designs based upon the original carvings, but he also developed the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II for British coinage. His 2015 depiction captures the Queen at age 89. At 33 years old, he became the youngest Royal Mint Engraver to create a monarch’s effigy.
All of the 2017 ¼ oz Gold British Queen’s Beast Griffin Coins you’ll find in this listing are in perfect condition. The NGC certifies a coin Mint State 70 when it possesses full, original mint luster with a complete lack of detracting flaws on surface areas and design elements.
The obverse of the Gold British Queen’s Beast Griffin Coins features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is now the longest-reigning monarch in the history of England, surpassing her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria I’s lengthy reign of 63 years back in 2015.
On the obverse of the 2017 ¼ oz Gold British Queen’s Beast Griffin coin is the mythical beast favored on the private seal of another of England’s long-reigning monarchs. King Edward III ruled England for more than 50 years, and the mythical griffin was long favored on his private seal.
