The Perth Mint’s Silver Koala coin series is one of its best annual sellers. Offered alongside the likes of the Silver Kookaburra and the Gold Kangaroo, the Koala Coins have been available since 2007 and mark 10 years of production during the 2017 release. As part of that celebration, a unique combination of Australia’s primary marsupial species occurs on one coin. The 2017 1 oz Kangaroo Privy Silver Australian Koala Coin is now available for purchase online at in near-perfect condition.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary issue of the Silver Australian Koala, the Perth Mint combined two of its most popular images onto the surface design of one silver coin. On the 2017 1 oz Kangaroo Privy Silver Australian Koala Coin you’ll find a privy mark featuring the famous hopping kangaroo image used on the Silver Australian Kangaroo coins.

Silver Australian Koala coins debuted in 2007 and have carried on each year, with the predominant release in the series featuring fine silver content in varying weights across bullion and proof options. Like other annual-release Perth Mint coins, you’ll find a new Silver Koala design each year.

The reverse of the 2017 1 oz Kangaroo Privy Silver Australian Koala Coin follows the popular design theme using new imagery each year. For the 2017 release, a single koala is depicted as it sets on the ground gazing off into the distance. Included on this side in the upper-left design field is a kangaroo privy mark, combining the two prominent marsupial species of the continent into one coin.

On the obverse is the classic figure of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty appears on all Australian coinage, and has since her ascension to the English throne in 1952. This is the fourth-generation design from Ian Rank-Broadley created in 1998.

Each 2017 1 oz Silver Australian Koala listed here today is in Mint State 69 condition according to the NGC. Coins in this condition are considered near perfect, and feature full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. The ER designation stands for Early Release, and denotes that these coins arrived for certification within 30 days of their release from the Perth Mint.
