The Perth Mint has an excellent reputation when it comes to the production of gold and silver bullion. From investment-grade bullion bars to bullion and commemorative coins, the Perth Mint is known for its exceptional designs and high-quality products. In 2017, the Silver Swan Series took its place alongside countless other Perth Mint collections of bullion coins featuring native flora and fauna from the Australian continent. The silver bullion coins joined the collection of existing silver programs that included the Silver Kookaburra, Silver Koala, Silver Wedge Tail Eagle, and the Silver Kangaroo. The Silver Swans follow the lead of these collections, with the exception of the Silver Kangaroo, in offering a new depiction of the swan on the reverse of the coins each year.
All of these 2017 1 oz Silver Australian Swan Coins are available to you for purchase with individual plastic flips for delivery. The coins represent the debut date mark in the series and sold out the entire mintage of 25,000 coins at the mint when first introduced.
On the obverse of 2017 Silver Australian Swans is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. The longest-reigning monarch in English history, Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne since 1952. In her role as the Queen of England, she is also the head of the Commonwealth Nations. This grants her the title, in the unique case of Australia, as Queen of Australia as well. This right-profile portrait shows the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, and was designed in 1998.
The reverse side of 2017 1 oz Silver Swans comes with an image of the swan in left-profile relief. As the swan gently glides along calm waters, its graceful neck swoops up and around from its body as its head rests in a lowered position. The swan is central to Perth Mint activities as the species is part of the official logo of the mint.
