Each of the 2017 Proof Silver American Eagle coins offered in this product listing have a perfect grade from the NGC. Coins in PF70 condition exhibit full, original mint luster and bear no detracting flaws of any kind on the surface areas. With a UCAM designation, you’ll note these silver coins have a strong, frosted matte finish to the design sets and a deeply-mirrored, clear background field.
On the obverse face of the 2017 Proof Silver American Eagle you’ll find the Walking Liberty image. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman during a period of revitalization in American coinage, the design appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947.
The reverse side of all Silver American Eagle coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. The design includes an American bald eagle set behind the national heraldic shield, and it is clutching arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. There are 13 stars above its head, indicative of the original colonies.
The Silver American Eagle debuted in 1986 with sales of 1.4 million proof coins. The Proof Silver American Eagle has never seen sales levels that high in the subsequent three decades, but there’s no doubting the continued popularity of the proof version of the Silver Eagle. In particular, certified coins sell quickly because of the added value of their certification.
