In total there are 10 designs planned for release in the series, each one focusing on a different heraldic beast from the history of the Royal Arms of England. In the Queen’s Beast Series from the Royal Mint, there’s something for every investor and collector. The 10 designs available in the collection launched in 2016 with the Lion of England, and those coins were available in the first-ever 2 oz silver bullion coin, ¼ oz gold, and 1 oz gold. Starting in 2017, the Royal Mint expanded the collection in response to its popularity.
For the 2017 issues, the Royal Mint went back to the first Lion of England offering to expand with a 10 oz silver coin and its first-ever 1 oz platinum coin. Now, all designs issued to date in the bullion series have planned 10 oz silver and 1 oz platinum options available.
All 2018 1 oz Gold British Queen’s Beast Black Bull Coins listed here with Silver.com have Mint State 69 grades from the NGC. Coins in this condition feature full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. The minor flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines found only outside the primary focal areas.
Included with Gold British Black Bull coin in this issue are Early Release labels. The ER designation is for coins received for certification by the NGC within the first 30 days of the Royal Mint’s 2018 issue date.
The reverse of the 2018 1 oz Gold British Queen’s Beast Black Bull Coin features the Black Bull of Clarence together with the Royal Arms of England used for 200 years following Edward III’s rule. The Bull stands behind the shield, which bears the golden lilies of France added by Edward III and the three golden lions of England adopted by Richard I.
On the obverse of all Gold British Queen’s Beast Coins is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. In this fifth-generation portrait, Her Majesty is found in right-profile relief in a design from Jody Clark which captures her at age 89.
