  • Reverse features the design of the Black Bull of Clarence.
  • Designs by Jody Clark.

The Queen’s Beast Series from the Royal Mint reflects the images of 10 heraldic beasts featured at the coronation ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II. When Her Majesty entered Westminster Abbey in 1953 to take her crown as the Queen of England, there were 10 beasts stationed at the door of the Abbey.

Each one of those beasts represented a different stage of history for the crown of England. Introduced into British lore and used by monarch from the House of York to the modern-day Tudors, these beasts were carved at the time by James Woodford RA specifically for the coronation ceremony.

As the fifth installment in the series, the Black Bull of Clarence comes from the first king in the House of York. Edward IV deposed Henry VI, a House of Lancaster king whose rule was in disarray, during the War of the Roses. The clash resulted in the death of Henry VI by execution and Edward IV’s ascension to the throne for good in 1461.

On the reverse of the 2018 1 oz Gold British Queen’s Beast Black Bull Coin is the image of the Black Bull of Clarence. The figure of the bull is a symbol of power and was used by Edward IV. It features in this design standing on its hind legs in front of the Royal Arms shield incorporated by Edward III, who made dual claims to the thrones of England and France. The inclusion of the lions of England and the lilies of France symbolize his claim to both crowns.

The obverse of the Gold British Queen’s Beast Bull Coins features the most recent effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 2015, this design is the fifth-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and captures her figure in right-profile relief.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
