Dragons are popular creatures in the history and cultural lore of nations and people around the globe. On the surface, it may seem as though there is little in common between the people of Wales and China, but their devotion to the dragon as a symbol of power and prestige connects them across many thousands of miles. The 2018 1 oz Gold Great Britain Two Dragons Coin is currently available to you online for purchase at Silver.com.

The oldest recorded use of the dragon as a symbol of Wales comes from 829 AD. The Historia Brittonum was written in this year and recounts the armies of King Arthur using the red Welsh dragon on battle standards. Other ancient Celtic leaders of the ancient era would use the dragon on battle standards and the monarchs of the House of Tudor would later use a red dragon to support the English Crown’s coat of arms.

As for the people of China, the dragon is a spiritual animal that is to be revered. Chinese dragons are symbols of wealth, power, and good luck. Emperors adopted the dragon in their seals, much like Welsh leaders, to symbolize their own power and strength as a leader. Chinese dragons were believed to possess the ability to control the weather, such as rains and monsoon seasons.

On the reverse of all Gold Great Britain Two Dragons Coins is a joint depiction of the Welsh dragon and the Chinese dragon. Across the top half of the design field, a Chinese dragon moves from left to right looking back at the Welsh dragon. Along the bottom half, a Welsh dragon moves from right to left and is also featured looking back at the Chinese dragon.

The obverse of the 2018 1 oz Gold Great Britain Two Dragons Coins includes Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy in right-profile relief. This is the fifth-generation design created by Jody Clark and it includes a new guilloche background, which is an ornamental element that resembles braided or interlaced ribbons.

All 2018 1 oz Gold Great Britain Two Dragons Coins are available inside of protective packaging. These gold bullion coins help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Royal Mint’s primary coining facility in Llantrisant, Wales.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
