Since its introduction in 1967, the Gold South African Krugerrand has been one of the most popular coins among investors buying gold. The coin was the only investment-grade gold coin of its kind available for 12 years from 1967 to 1979 when the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf was introduced. Over its lifetime, the Gold Krugerrand has moved some 50 million ounces of gold for the South African Mint.
Even in the face of an economic boycott by Western countries, the Gold Krugerrand maintained its popularity around the world with investors. Some estimates suggest that as many as 22 million Gold Krugerrands were brought into the United States alone in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
All 2018 1 oz Gold South African Krugerrand Coins are available to you here in near-perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 69 certification feature full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
Additionally, each coin is accompanied by an Early Release label. The ER label in the slab indicates the coins arrived for certification with the NGC within the first 30 days of their release in 2018 by the South African Mint.
On the obverse of Gold South African Krugerrand coins is the image of Paul Kruger. The President of the South African Republic from 1883 to 1900, he was an iconic political and military figure in South Africa as a representative of the Boer cause.
