The Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark coins were introduced in 2011 by Geiger Edelmetalle. In that first year, only the ½, ¼, and 1 oz silver coins were available for purchase. In 2012, the program expanded to include the 5 oz coin, these 10 oz Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark coins, and two larger coins with 1 Kilo and 5 Kilo weights.
Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark coins in the 10 oz weight have proven quite popular with investors. After slumping from 2,003 coins in its introductory year to 1,992 in 2013, the 10 oz Silver Noah’s Ark coin has rebounded each year. The mintage rose each year from 2014 to 2016, jumping from 3,645 to 4,065, and most recently 4,562.
On the obverse of 2018 10 oz Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark coins you’ll notice the coat of arms for Armenia. The seal has a national shield in the center, flanked on either side by an eagle and a lion. In the center of the shield is the image of Noah’s Ark resting on the peak of Mount Ararat. Engravings include the name “Republic of Armenia” in both English and Armenian, along with the face value, weight, metal content, and purity of the coin.
The reverse of all Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark coins features the biblical flood from Genesis. Noah and his family were chosen by God to survive an epic flood that would wash away all of mankind. The ark is depicted floating on the floodwaters in this design as the sun emerges from behind Mount Ararat in the background and a dove flies into the foreground with an olive branch.
