While it takes planet Earth 365 days to make a full revolution around the sun, the planet’s moon takes just 29 days to circle around it. Throughout this 29-day cycle, the moon goes through eight different phases of visibility and brightness. Four of those phases are represented in the 2018 Silver American Eagle “Moon Edition” Four Seasons Coin Set.

All 2018 Silver American Eagle Four Seasons Coin Sets available in this listing ship in a beautiful display box. Inside are four different 2018 Silver Eagles, each with a darkened, colorized layer of Ruthenium to provide visual context for the moon’s various phases represented in the finish. Each set comes with an individual Certificate of Authenticity.

On the obverse of the 2018 Silver American Eagle coins in this set is the design of Walking Liberty. A historic US coin design, this image was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and represented the nation’s consistent march toward a brighter future. On this side of the coins, you’ll find the Ruthenium layering that reflects the moon in its first, second, third, and fifth phases.

Known, in order from above, as the New Moon, Waxing Crescent Moon, Quarter Moon, and Full Moon, these phases are achieved with a layer of Ruthenium to darken out the portion of the moon not visible in those phases. The New Moon coin, for example, is completely darkened on the obverse side. The Quarter Moon has half its vertical field darkened with Ruthenium and the other half remaining bright in silver.

The reverse of all 2018 Silver American Eagle “Moon Edition” Four Seasons Coin Sets features the design of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Introduced in 1794, this design has been modified countless times. This is the 1986 version by John Mercanti.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase.
