The Silver American Eagle coin is one of two collectible coins struck by the United States Mint each year. While the burnished coin has been available only since 2006 with very low mintage figures, the Proof Silver American Eagle debuted in 1986 along with the bullion coin and has enjoyed immense popularity for more than three decades. Right now, 2018 Proof Silver American Eagle Coins are available to purchase online at with PCGS certification!

Each 2018 Proof Silver American Eagle available here today is in near-perfect condition as certified by the PCGS. Coins in PR69 condition exhibit full, original mint luster and feature a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws in this grade are limited to minuscule hairlines or contact marks found outside the primary focal areas of the coin.

The First Strike designation is reserved for coins received for certification within a set timeframe. To earn the FS label, coins must arrive for certification within 30 days of the release date the United States Mint issues for the 2018 Proof Silver Eagle. A DCAM, or deep-cameo, coin has strong, frosted design elements that overlay a deeply-mirrored, clear background field for visual brilliance.

On the obverse of all Proof Silver American Eagles is the image of Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, it was featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar circulation coin through 1947 and indicates the drive of America toward a brighter future.

The reverse of the 2018 Proof Silver American Eagle Coin features the heraldic eagle of the United States. First designed in 1794, this is a 1986 modern depiction from John Mercanti. It features a powerful bald eagle behind the heraldic shield, with an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other.

All Proof Silver American Eagle coins are struck by the United States Mint. Though other mints have contributed to reverse proof and other one-time coining of the Silver Eagle, the West Point Mint strikes all standard Proof Silver American Eagles. As such, you’ll find a “W” mint mark on the coin’s reverse side.
