Silver Eagles from the United States Mint fall in line with the other metallic options in the American Eagle Series from the mint. All American Eagles have the image of Liberty on the obverse and the bald eagle on the reverse. The coins each have their own, unique designs though to set them apart.

For the Silver American Eagle coin, the design on the obverse comes from Adolph A. Weinman. Weinman was a famed artist, sculptor, and engraver in early 20th century America. His designs featured on the nation’s 10-cent piece and 50-cent piece, and he also created numerous medal designs. The reverse is a design from John Mercanti, a life-long US Mint engraver-sculptor and the 12th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint.

On the obverse of all 2018 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coins is Walking Liberty. The design of Walking Liberty reflects the nation’s ideals of seeking out a brighter future for all as Liberty walks toward the setting sun with the American flag around her shoulders. Designed in 1916 by Weinman, it featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947 as a replacement for the Barber coinage design.

The reverse of 2018 Silver American Eagle NGC Gem Roll coins bears the heraldic eagle of the US. Used on American coins since 1794, the design was refined and modernized by John Mercanti in 1986 for use on the Silver Eagle coins.

These 2018 Silver American Eagle NGC Gem Rolls are packaged by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation inside of protective plastic Gem Rolls.
