Proof Gold American Eagle coins have had very low mintage figures over the course of availability since 1986. No weight in this range, from 1 oz to 1/10 oz, has ever surpassed 500,000 individually in mintage figure. The highest single mintage figure came in 1986 when the 1 oz coin had 446,290 coins.

As for the ¼ oz Proof Gold American Eagle, it had its highest mintage figure in its debut year, as is common for collector coins. The 98,029 struck in 1988 remains far-and-away the highest mintage, with only the 2007 and 2010 mintages reaching anywhere near with figures of 46,189 and 44,507 respectively.

All 2018-W ¼ oz Proof Gold American Eagle Coins listed here are in perfect condition. The PCGS issues the PR70 grade to coins with full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind. The DCAM designation, or Deep-cameo, is for proof coins with strong, frosted matte design elements and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields.

With a First Strike label included in the protective slab, you know that these coins were received by the PCGS for certification within the first 30 days of issue from the US Mint. The coins must arrive within 30 days of the 2018 issue date to the PCGS or an approved third-party depository to qualify.

On the obverse of the 2018 ¼ oz Proof Gold Eagle is the image of Liberty. She walks forward from Washington DC with her torch held aloft in her right hand, and 50 stars surrounding her figure.

The reverse of the 2018-W ¼ oz Proof Gold American Eagle Coin bears the image of the bald eagle. In this design, the male eagle flies over the nest with an olive branch as a female eagle watches over the hatchlings.
