Proof Silver American Eagle coins debuted in 1986 from the United States Mint. The Silver Eagle was originally offered in bullion and proof, with just a 1 oz silver coin ever struck in the series. In 2006, the program expanded to include a burnished version which was tailored toward a smaller niche of collectors.

Mintage of the Proof Silver American Eagle coin was once limited to set figures by the United States Mint, such as 500,000 per year. Now, however, the mint has no cap on proof coin and strikes coins to meet demand from collectors.

The obverse of all 2018 Proof Silver American Eagle Coins features the Walking Liberty design. Created by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, it features Liberty walking from right to left across the coin with her right arm outstretched and the American flag draped across her shoulders.

On the reverse of Proof Silver American Eagle Coins is the heraldic eagle coin design. Originally created in 1794, this is the latest and most modern version of the design featuring the bald eagle set behind the heraldic shield as it clutches arrows and an olive branch.

In this listing, 2018 Proof Silver American Eagle Coins are available in near-perfect condition as graded by the NGC. A PF69 coin has full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. The flaws on this coin are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.

Early Release coins are those which arrive at the NGC for certification within a set period of time. The coins must arrive within 30 days of the date set by the US Mint for the 2018 release of Proof Silver American Eagles. The UCAM designation stands for ultra-cameo, and indicates these coins have a combination of strong, frosted design facets and deeply-mirrored, clear backgrounds.
