The Gold Australian Kangaroo series features five weights in most years. A previously issued 1/20 oz coin has been discontinued in the series, but the 1 oz gold coin remains accompanied by three fractional weights and a 1 kilo coin. The 1/10 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo is the smallest of the coins. The 1 oz and 1 kilo coins have unlimited mintage figures to ensure demand for the products is met.
On the reverse of 2019 1/10 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo Coins is the image of a kangaroo at rest. This kangaroo is depicted on a mound of dirt with two trees framing its figure from behind and the sun rising into the sky in the background. Kangaroos are native to Australia and come in four subspecies: red kangaroos, eastern grey kangaroos, western kangaroos, and antilopine kangaroos.
The obverse of 2019 Gold Australian Kangaroo Coins features a new design of Queen Elizabeth II. In this first change to her effigy since 1998, the sixth design of Her Majesty features on the obverse and is based on the Royal Mint of England’s fifth-generation design. Created by Jody Clark, this design differs from the British version in that it displays the Queen’s neckline and shoulders. No Australian coin has showcased these features since the 1960s.
