Gold Mexican Libertad coins were first struck and released by the Mexican Mint in 1981. At the time, the only gold bullion coins readily available were the Gold Krugerrand from South Africa and the Gold Maple Leaf from the Royal Canadian Mint. However, the Gold Libertad was no struck again after that initial offering until 1991, at which point it returned as an annual-release coin.
When the Gold Libertad returned, the original 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins now featured two more fractional counterparts in the form of 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz coins. The 1/10 oz Gold Libertad remains, to this day, one of the most popular choices among buyers in the Gold Libertad series. It has the second-highest mintage figure in the post-1991 release with 50,777 coins sold in 1992. More recently, it had a very low mintage of 1,500 coins in 2018, which was third among the five coins.
On the obverse of 2019 1/10 oz Gold Mexican Libertad Coins is the image of Winged Victory. This symbol of Mexican perseverance in the face of Spanish colonial rule depicts a female figure with wings holding a wreath crown in her right hand and the broken chains of bondage and servitude in the left hand.
The reverse field on 1/10 oz Gold Mexican Libertads includes only the modern coat of arms for Mexico. This seal with an eagle and serpent on a cactus is surrounded along the bottom by a wreath and along the top by the words “Estados Unidos Mexicanos,” the official name of the nation in Spanish.
These 2019 1/10 oz Gold Mexican Libertad coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with protective plastic packaging to house the individual coins. The coins are issued by the Mexican Mint on behalf of Banco de Mexico.
