The Silver Australian Koala program is one of the most prominent options from the Perth Mint for silver buyers. Introduced in 2007 to follow the Silver Kookaburra, the Silver Koala is now part of a collection of silver bullion coins that includes the Silver Kangaroo, Silver Emu, and the Silver Wedge Tail Eagle. The 2019 1 Kilo Silver Australian Koala Coin is currently available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

  • Coins ship to you inside of individual protective capsules!
  • 13th release year of Silver Australian Koala coins!
  • Mintage offered on an unlimited basis through the end of 2019!
  • Consists of 1 Kilogram, or 32.15 Troy ounces, of .9999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $30 (AUD) by Australia.
  • Queen Elizabeth II’s latest effigy on the obverse.
  • All-new koala design of an individual marsupial in a tree on the reverse.

The Silver Australian Koala program has changed a few times in recent years. Following its 2007 introduction as a 1 oz coin only, the Perth Mint added 1/2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kilogram coins in 2008. This four-coin offering continued through 2015. That was the last year in which the 1/2 oz and 10 oz coins were offered.

More recently, the Silver Koala coin experienced a boost in silver content from .999 purity up to .9999 purity. The Silver Kangaroo’s 2016 debut made it the first-ever .9999 fine silver coin from the Perth Mint, and its popularity convinced the mint to boost the Silver Kookaburra and Silver Koala collections to this same purity level for investors.

On the obverse of 2019 1 Kilo Silver Australian Koala Coins is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has featured on the obverse of Australian coins since 1953 and this latest change is the sixth effigy of the Queen to feature. Its design is based on the work of Jody Clark for the Royal Mint of England in 2015. His design captures the Queen wearing the Royal Diadem crown in right-profile relief. This design for Australian coinage is the first since the 1960s to include the Queen’s neckline and shoulders, with the Victorian coronation necklace around her neck.

The reverse side of 2019 Silver Australian Koala Coin features its own new image. Each year there is a new design on the reverse and this year’s design captures the vision of a singular koala sitting on the branch of a tree.

These 2019 1 Kilo Silver Australian Koala Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with individual protective capsules. Perth Mint uses an unlimited mintage for 1 Kilogram coins, meaning the coins will be produced through the end of 2019 to meet demand as times goes on.
