The Super Pit is located in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, along the Goldenfields Highway. This region of Western Australia is home to an abundance of gold and brought outside explorers and settlers to the region in greater numbers starting in the 1890s. Mining activities at the Super Pit first started in 1893 and continue to this day.
