The Gold Canadian Maple Leaf coin is arguably one of the most prominent among gold buyers today. Issued first in 1979, the Gold Maple Leaf 1 oz coin celebrates its 40th anniversary with the 2019 release of this popular gold bullion coin. The 2019 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin is currently available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coin ships to you inside of protective packaging, mint tubes of 10, or Monster Boxes of 500 coins!
  • 40th anniversary issue of the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $50 (CAD) by Canada.
  • On the obverse is Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse field includes the sugar maple leaf.

The 1 oz gold coin in the Gold Maple Leaf Series debuted in 1979 as just the second coin available to gold bullion investors. Only the Gold South African Krugerrand coin is older. When the Gold Maple Leaf debuted it was originally offered only in this 1 oz weight and featured .999 fine gold instead of its current .999 fine gold.

In November 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint took steps to boost the prominence of the Gold Maple Leaf. The first measure it took was the aforementioned increase in gold purity to .9999. Additionally, the RCM introduced two new options in the form of a 1/4 oz gold coin and a 1/10 oz gold coin.

On the obverse of 2019 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coins is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted here in right-profile relief in a design from Susanna Blunt. Ms. Blunt is just the second Canadian artist ever to design a monarch’s image for Canadian coinage. This fourth-generation portrait is the first of Elizabeth II and the first since her father to depict a monarch without a crown.

The reverse of 2019 Gold Canadian Maple Leafs features the sugar maple leaf design. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, it debuted on the Gold Maple Leaf and is now available on all versions of the coin, including the silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the coin.

All modern Gold Maple Leaf coins feature two major security features. 1 oz coins have the laser-engraved maple leaf privy on the reverse with the final two digits of the date engraved in the center. All Maple Leaf coins have radial lines on both the obverse and reverse.

These 2019 1 oz Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coins are available to you today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with individual plastic packages. Multiples are issued in either mint tubes of 10 or Monster Boxes of 500 coins.
